About the Book: A Treasure of Tagore's Writings
Rabindranath Tagore (7 May 1861 -7 August 1941), also lovingly called Gurudev,
was an Indian poet. He has also been recognised as a celebrated novelist,
painter, composer and philosopher who changed the way Bengali language,
literature and music was perceived, Tagore won the Nobel Prize for Literature in
1913, which made his work accessible to and renowned among Western scholars as
well. Some of his well-known compositions comprise Gitanjali (Offerings of
Songs), Cora (Fair-Faced), and Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World). He was also
a cultural reformer and polymath who modernized Bengali art by repudiating
strictures binding it to
