About the Book: Symphony Of Birds
The Symphony of Birds is a collection of poems about freedom, identity, love,
loss, memory and resistance. Krisu Chhetri writes out of lived political and
social realities, but his poems are equally attentive to nature, family, exile
and the private life of emotion. His distinctive Bilayan approach brings these
different strands together, allowing the personal and the political to speak
within the same poetic space. Translated by Mahesh Paudyal, the collection
carries a strong sense of place while engaging with questions of dignity,
belonging, justice and freedom that travel far beyond Nepal.
