The study takes into account both the non sikh and sikh rilers anddeals with
administrative organization, agrarian production, urbaneconomy, Jagirdari and
state patronage and polity. Based oncontemporary sources in persian, punjabi,
english and printedmanuscript materials produced by the british, it makes a
substatialadvance upon previous studies of the 18th century Punjab.
