When Gulliver's Travels was first published in 1726, it was a huge success.
People of all ages loved reading Swift's story of Gulliver, a ship's doctor, who
travels to some very strange lands. There is Lilliput, where the tiny people are
smaller than his hand, and Brobdingnag, a land of giants, where rats are the
size of dogs. In the country ruled by the Houyhnhnms, creatures that look like
horses but speak like humans. When he returns to England after his last journey,
he is a changed man.
